Dynamic QR code generator
Print once, change the link forever. A dynamic QR points at a short link you control — edit the destination anytime.
Open the QR code generator →Static vs dynamic
A static QR encodes your URL directly: free and permanent, but fixed once printed. A dynamic QR encodes a short GenHub redirect link; the printed code never changes, but you can repoint it and watch the scans. If you printed 5,000 menus and the link broke, dynamic is the difference between a reprint and a two-second edit.
Scan analytics
Every dynamic code tracks total and unique scans, plus country, device and operating system — without storing anyone's raw IP address. We hash IPs with a salt that rotates daily, so unique counts work but no personal data is kept.
How editing actually works
A dynamic code encodes a short GenHub redirect URL, not your destination directly. When someone scans it, their phone requests that short URL, and GenHub looks up the current destination and issues a redirect — so the printed pixels never change, only the lookup behind them. Editing the destination in your account takes effect immediately; there's no reprint, no re-scan-and-hope.
When dynamic is worth it
- You're printing at any real volume — menus, packaging, signage — where a broken or outdated link means a reprint.
- The destination might change: a seasonal menu, an event page, a promo that rotates.
- You want to know whether the code is actually getting scanned before investing in bigger placements.
If you're printing a single flyer for a one-off event, a free static code is simpler and permanent — there's nothing to maintain.
What happens if you cancel Pro
Existing dynamic codes keep working and keep redirecting after a Pro subscription ends — the printed code isn't disabled. Editing the destination and viewing analytics become read-only until you renew.
Setting one up
Sign in, create a dynamic code from the QR tool the same way you'd create a static one — pick a type, fill in the details, add a logo and colors if you want — then save it. GenHub gives you a short redirect URL immediately, before you've even downloaded the image, so you can start testing the destination right away. Download the PNG or SVG once you're happy, and the destination stays editable from your account for as long as the code exists.
FAQ
Can I change the destination later?
Yes — that's the whole point. Editing the destination updates instantly; the printed code is untouched.
Is the static QR generator free?
Yes, unlimited and free with PNG and SVG export. Dynamic codes and analytics are part of GenHub Pro.
Does the short link look spammy?
It's a genhub.fluxath.app redirect link, not a raw IP — visible in a scanner's browser bar for a moment during redirect, same as any URL shortener.
Can I move a dynamic code to a different destination type?
Yes — editing a dynamic code just changes what it redirects to; the destination type (link, phone number, page) isn't fixed.
How many dynamic codes can I create on Pro?
Up to 50 per account — a ceiling set to prevent abuse, not a per-code fee. Most single businesses or individuals never come close to it.
Can I pause a dynamic code without deleting it?
Deactivating a code makes it show a simple 'link not found' page to anyone who scans it, without losing the code's history — reactivate it later and it resumes redirecting to the same destination.
